Last week, I traveled to the Touqian river, which is just over the border of HsinChu County and heads into HsinChu City. The south bank of the Touqian river runs next to the Nanliao fishing Harbour (actually, to be more specific, next to the Old Nanliao Fishing Harbour). Both sides of the river are dotted with small PVC Boats, a majority of them seem to still be in use.
The HsinChu City planners were clever enough to put rocks on the banks of the cement levee, which makes it easier to walk during low-tide. Some of the mud on the banks is almost like quicksand, and it would take seconds to sink up to your knees. Many of the boats are far out enough in the mud that it would be impossible to go out there without long rubber boots.
However, I trekked out as far as I could in the safe areas, and was able to document some more PVC Boats for this research. Here are a few of the PVC Boats that were on the banks oft he Touqian River.
